For most life in Palestine is hard. They work for all their life trying to live their life but they do not get enough money here in Palestine. They went to find a way to be able to provide for their families but how can one do that when the money that they get from their job is no good? They decide to leave Palestine and go to America where they have heard so much from distant relatives. If you have an education, jobs were very easy to find and the money was good. So, why not go there and try their luck
How do they get a green card to get to America? They go to the American Embassy and apply for a visa. They family would have to wait for a few months to see if the American Embassy would reject or approve the application.
If the application is approved, the family can be able to pack up and leave to America. Anyone in who goes to American and wants to acquire a Green Card would have to live there for five years; they can not leave America until after the five years.
For most they find life in America much easier than life in Palestine and they prefer it. Actually, when they come to Palestine they realize how much harder it is to go through life. They work in America for as long as they can, maybe until the kids have finished with their studies and come back to Palestine and just rough it out because even though life in America is easy, Palestinians prefer to live in their homeland. A job is not the only reason Palestinians move. One reason is a family may not have their hawea.
For some, they are forced to leave Palestine by Israel because they were originally from America and they do not have the hawea.
A good example of this is my family. However, we were born in America and have tried many times to get a hawea. My father has waited since the very early 1980’s to get it and we have been living in America since then, coming to Palestine only to visit.
My father recently got the hawea. When we first found out that he finally got the hawea. We decided to move back to Palestine. We knew that life in Palestine would be difficult but there were so many people who had it worse than us and they are living in Palestine without a problem. Why couldn’t we?
Another reason for Palestinians to immigrate to America is to go to school. Schools in America have so many options and so many things you can learn. Palestine can give you this but for many people. They believe that America’s education is better. That may be true especially for a young man. Public schools for boys do not teach their students well, actually they may not even teach them at all. The teachers do not care about the young man’s education, and they would let them do whatever they want without trying to calm them down.
I can see a parent’s reason to want to go to America. They care about their sons. These young men would grow up and have to take care of a family of their own, how can they do that without a good education? America or even any other country would be much preferable to parents that care about the future of their sons.
These are not all the reasons for a Palestinian to decide to move to America but these are the most influential of the reasons. Some have no choice; some just want a better life for their families. In the end of the day, they might not like doing it but those are the reasons for Palestinians to move to America.
